The Rutherford has been many things in its time - including a furniture warehouse, chair store, recording studio, film director's office, and design agency. This illustrious history of use all precedes its current centrality to the evolution of Hoxton Square, which has itself been witness to all sorts of historical happenings, from famous composers calling it home to a position as the playground for artists including Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst.

The Rutherford is perched on the southeast corner of Hoxton Square, Hoxton's only public garden square which was laid all the way back in 1683, making it one of the oldest in London. It's just minutes on foot from Old Street Station and Shoreditch High Street, offering rail connections to the rest of London and beyond. The building also contains secure bicycle storage, giving cycling commuters the chance to pedal to work every day.

East London covers a large number of districts in London; everything to the east of the City of London including Shoreditch, Hoxton, Bethnal Green, Hackney, Leyton, Barking and Canary Wharf.

Due to the bombing during the Second World War, the East End was targeted because it contained some of the most important dockland areas close to the River Thames.

The area has gone through extensive urban re-generation including the replacement or improvement of council homes. The redevelopment coincided with the staging of the 2012 Olympic Games. Victoria Park and West Boating Lake are within the area and prove to be a popular destination with professionals and locals alike. There are many amenities in the vicinity, including banks, convenience stores, restaurants, parks, bars and coffee shops, making this an ideal location in which to base a business.

The knock-on effect led to lower rents and more available property, which in turn after regeneration allowed the area to become more affluent pushing up property prices in recent years as businesses have found it easy to get office space. East London is now a popular business location, offering a very diverse and cultural centre to work from.
